Dear Friends,
“Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me so I send you…Receive the Holy Spirit.” These are the words of Jesus on this Pentecost Sunday. Today as we conclude our Easter celebration Jesus sends us forth to proclaim what we have seen and heard. It is the Birthday of the Church! Thank you all who helped to make our Lent and Easter celebrations so wonderful!
This time of year our elementary, high school, and college students are also being sent forth for new endeavors. We ask God’s Blessing upon them and pray in gratitude for the ministry of their parents, teachers and staff and administrators.
We also pause on this Memorial Day weekend to remember those who have fallen in the service of our country, those presently serving in the military, and all our departed faithful.
Thank you to Father Steve Shaftlein for celebrating the Masses this weekend in my absence. On Pentecost Sunday our pilgrimage group will be attending the English speaking Mass at the Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi. I will light a candle and say a pray for you all at the tomb of Saint Francis!
Happy Pentecost and have a good and safe summer!
“Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love!”
Father Chris
