Dear Friends,
Thank you for all who signed up to participate in our Lenten Bible study, “Lenten Longings.” We have around 100 participants! I am very happy with the amount of participation. I hope our numbers will continue to grow as I plan to offer Bible studies and small group retreat opportunities every Lent and Advent in the future.
This Sunday we celebrate the First Sunday of Lent. What are you going to do to make this Lent an opportunity to grow closer to Jesus so that when we arrive at the empty tomb on Easter Sunday you too will be prepared to experience new life?
In today’s Gospel Jesus is tempted by the devil. As we enter our 40 days in the desert, we hear from Jesus some good Lenten advice.
“One does not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
“You shall not put, the Lord your God to the test.”
“The Lord God, shall you worship and him alone shall you serve.”
(Or in other words this Lent make an extra effort to read the Bible, avoid sin, and attend Mass, Reconciliation and the Stations of the Cross!)
Lenten Blessings,
Father Chris
